Our Vision and Objectives

A Rehabilitation Living Lab:

Our vision is to create an inclusive environment, the first of its kind in the 21st century aiming to optimize social participation and inclusion for all individuals, grounded and stemming from leading-edge research, while serving as a blueprint for the creation of similar enabling environments world-wide. To fulfill this vision, we are creating a Living Lab within a shopping mall with a number of pilot projects underway, some completed, others on-going and additional projects planned for the next three years.

Three main objectives are pursued:

  1. Identify the environmental, physical and social obstacles and facilitators to participation (shopping, meeting with friends, etc) in the Living Lab.
  2. Develop technology and interventions to optimize physical and cognitive function, social participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
  3. Implement and evaluate the impact of technology and interventions in-vivo (i.e., in the Living Lab) on physical and cognitive function, social participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
